This is what it looks like when someone owns the whole room. The second this young girl walked onto the stage, everything went silent—you could honestly hear a pin drop. Then she opened her mouth and delivered an unreal, goosebump-raising opera version of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams,” and the entire place just exploded. It was so powerful, so pure, it felt like it washed your mind clean. And when that Golden Buzzer hit, it wasn’t a surprise—it was destiny. Moments like this remind you that women’s voices really are the quiet angels of this world, lifting us up without us even realizing it.

Ekaterina Shelehova's Golden Buzzer Performance on Spain's Got Talent 2024

Ekaterina Shelehova has a voice unlike any you’ve heard before. When she entered the 2024 series of Spain’s Got Talent, her mystical rendition of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” stupefied her audience and won her a Golden Buzzer, sending Ekaterina straight through to the finals!

As the stage lights darken around the Russian singer, her phoenix voice rises from the gloom, crystalline and purely operatic, instantly soul-stirring and treading the line between angelic and animal. Her fluttering vocals are wordless, carrying primal melodies akin to mantra and Eastern devotions, soaring through glass-shattering high notes, toned with elegance and unbelievable grace.

The judges are dazzled, speechless, and staring in bewilderment at Ekaterina’s truly authentic take on what it means to be a musician. She breaks down the boundaries and biases of genre, enchanting the audience with spiritual sounds unparalleled across the world of pop.

When she finally glides into the chorus lyrics of “Sweet Dreams,” Ekaterina doesn’t just sing the iconic melodies, she recharges their power against her own bewitching light, floating through distant notes and reimagining the classic riffs to sound like a brand new song.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t Ekaterina’s first TV talent show appearance. Her 2024 Spanish audition marks Ekaterina’s third bid for the Got Talent crown, following auditions on Italia’s Got Talent in 2021 and Bulgaria’s Got Talent in 2022. Bringing her obscure and beautiful music across Europe, each one of Ekaterina’s auditions has gone internet-viral, but she is yet to win a series. Her Spanish appearance culminated in her elimination during the semi-finals.

But despite not winning the series, Ekaterina’s auditions have anchored themselves firmly in the minds of its viewers, Ekaterina currently boasting an incredible 1.2 million Instagram followers and over 419,000 YouTube subscribers. She’s since performed alongside Hans Zimmer, on another occasion stealing the show at Paris Fashion Week, all whilst composing her own music. Keep your eyes peeled for this rising star – her debut album is set to release in 2025, to much anticipation!
